the monster that ate a diamond_
once upon a time there was a monster named julian.
julian had scary bright white eyes and a big gruff brow that was dark and pointy.
one day while scouring the streets of tokyo for some small children to devour, julian stumbled across a beautiful shiny thing.
having no arms, julian's only way to pick up the lovely shiny find was with his mouth.
as he sucked it into his big black moosh, he realised he'd found a diamond. a sparkling, beautiful diamond.
excited by the find, julian jumped about like the fiesty little monster he was.
sadly, in all the commotion, julian swallowed the diamond and it promptly cut open his throat and stomach, causing him to die slowly in a pool of his own green blood.
because julian believed in god, he sighed a slow sigh of relief, knowing that as he only ate bad little children he would most definitely rise through the pearly gates of heaven.
unfortunately, as julian took his last breath, there was nothing but an eerie darkness.
fuckitsaidjulian.
and they were the words he was remembered by.
-----
the moral of the story: if you think you've stumbled upon a diamond in the dirty grimy streets, don't go celebrating too much. it'll all turn to shit soon enough, and you'll be remembered for nothing more than your green blooded dying words.

vegetarian in kyoto_
walking the painfully cold dark restaurant alleyways of old kyoto, desperately hungry after a long day of hiking into the temple set hills, we find that vegetarian means food that contains vegetables, not food no meat.
using limited broken japanese, we muddle our way to a warm bowl of soba noodles and japanese dumplings.
i am in love with kyoto.

insomnia_
she falls asleep in my long hairy arms, my thin flat chest, in her beautiful room in the clouds.
i feel her twitch, her breathing slows, she's gone, away from me, for 8 hours.
i lay next to her, motionless, enchanted by the darkness. the house vibrates with sounds from downstairs.
i pretend not to notice, but my mind won't stop. creating worlds that will eventually take me away too. eventually.

night light_
night light, night light.
how will i sleep tonight?
will i dream dark dreams?
and awaken damp, tired?
i hope so.
