Matcha Castella Cake

I love Japanese Castella or Kasutera cake. Airy, moist and just right in sweetness, it is no wonder that I can finish a whole bar at a time. Castella cake is perfect served with a cup of afternoon tea.

Jen: Yup. Can you believe T&T had them on special this week?? :) Run over and buy a bunch. Regular, matcha, coffee and chocolate flavours. We went there right after our dim sum session with you!

Steve: I LURV shopping at T&T for groceries. :) Mainly due to the selection!

Jen: Go get some. :) I like the matcha better than the regular (which tasted like it has hints of coconut - I'm not keen on coconut).

which T&T? Or all of them? Maybe I'll make a lunchtime run...I don't even know what kasutera *is* and it looks good. Hopefully I find out soon :)

Endy_: I suppose this is in your neck of the woods, then? (vs. being downtown). I was at the one at Warden & Steels.
Let us know which you get and how you liked it. They've also got the ones that are prepackaged and come as 12 in a box, not large bricks, but fat pillows. I think those are more consistent and are yummy too. But this is "fresh" (but imported from Richmond, BC) so you might want to give this a try too.

I work kiiiiinda near the Warden/Steeles one, but I actually live downtown. lol.

ah, they didn't have the fresh ones anymore :(, only some frozen ones (no matcha) and boxes of prepackaged ones (made locally by some bakery in Scarborough). About to try one.
