The summit

This was taken from the point the US soldiers were fighting towards: the peak of Umurbrogol mountain, highest point on Peleliu. At the summit, Kikuchi-san told us a story about the last few Japanese soldiers left. Legend has it that in addition to a few troops there was a geisha, who had accompanied one of the commanding officers - she was killed while manning a machinegun.
