Theres a story behind this little guy. Right now I am at the lake and he is in the bush outside my door. I was fishing this morning on our dock when next to the boat I see something fluttering on the water's surface. My dad and I thought at first it was one of those large moths that we get around here until we looked again and noticed it was a small hummingbird struggling not to drown. I went in the water and picked it up and brought him up to the house to help it recover in a flower pot as we dont know how long it was struggling. It's probably the only reason i could ever get it to sit on my hand because it was so exhausted. it had a small abrasion under it's right wing, i dont know what caused it. I just hope it doesn't get eaten by a snake or something after all it's been through.
as far as photography goes, i am very pleased with this shot. on the 50mm f1.8. i love this lens.
UPDATE: i regret to inform everyone that this little guy didn't make it. i did what i could to try and nurse it back to health, but it was a losing battle. It just goes to show you how fragile life can be, especially if you are the world's smallest species of bird. In photography, however, you can live forever.
