Pisolithus tinctorius, Dyemaker's puffball, Orlando, Florida

Pisolithus tinctorius, Dyemaker's puffball, Orlando, Florida by shyzaboy.
I looked at many pictures of Pisolithus tinctorius online, but never saw such obvious peridioles (spore packages). As such, I was unable to make an identification. Thanks to Harri Harmaja for the ID (on the UBC Botanical Garden Forums)

This is approximately 2" (5 cm) in diameter.

AKA: dead man's fist, dead man's foot, dyemaker's false puffball, dog turd fungus, dyeball

Synonym: Pisolithus arrhizus

Location: Orlando, Florida

Nice and rare take. But what is the rod in the foreground? it is distracting from the subject.
Score 7/10 (from the Score Me! group)

This is superb.

The "rod" in the foreground is a stick from the trees. This was taken in a small stand of trees without any undergrowth. (After several days of rain due to tropical storm Fay.)

If I had been thinking, I should've moved the stick...

i like the subject and range of focus. i think a more closeup or a closer crop may help, or perhaps removing the rod.
