A Prayer for Japan: Swaying Grass Dance (DSC2910)

A Prayer for Japan: Swaying Grass Dance (DSC2910)

Like the River Jumpers Inc, even the swaying grass are dancing happily along the river...

As I was quietly strolling along the river I realised how we are so blessed with the abundance of peace and harmony and yet I'm so sad for the people of Japan. My prayers to all of you.

O loving God, to stand before you is to abide forever.
Grant us, dear God, in all our duties, your help;
in all our uncertainties, your guidance;
in all our dangers, your protection;
and in all our sorrows, your peace.
This day we lift up to you the people of Japan.
Give them courage in this time of tumult,
give them comfort where they are broken and grieving,
surround them with your love and grace.

Meet the River Jumpers Inc,

Check out the history
ms.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kampung_Seberang_Tuan_Chik_Haji

Now, the once humble village of mainly fishermen has many modern beautiful houses built by civil servants with positions, government employees, contractors, managers of large corporations and businesses. They've settled and built houses here because of its strategic location i.e. it only takes about 15 minutes to reach the city center.

River Life (DSC2809)

River Life (DSC2809)

I'm in the river that flows from Your throne, water of Life; it covers me and I breathe again, Your love is breath to my soul.

Note: This is the start of a new series of shots which I took while trekking the banks of the Terengganu River and as a reminder to those in power, whatever you do in the name of progress please do so without spoiling this beautiful life that we have along the river.

Sigh, doing action shots with a manual focus tele is such a pain, but it was fun.

She's hooked (DSC2583)

She's hooked (DSC2583)

I grew up in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan (i.e in the west coast of Malaysia) I have always lived within walking distance from the ocean. First in Port Dickson where the beach was barely 10 minutes walk away and my mother had a house in Batu Empat, Port Dickson. Lots of time was spent there as a child. As a result, the ocean sights, sounds, and smells bring peace to my soul.

Now ever since 1980 I've settled down in Terengganu which is in the east coast of Malaysia. And we are barely 10 minutes walk to the beach, again. I don't think I could ever live too long in a non-beached town, and an afternoon spent by the ocean is always wonderful! I think my youngest daughter Zahirah (she's 16 months old now) agrees.. because she just would not get out of the water even when it's getting late.

Pandanus greeting the beachgoers (DSC2495)

Pandanus greeting the beachgoers (DSC2495)

The art of weaving with the leaves of the pandanus or also known as the thatch screwpine tree, is pivotal to the history of the Terengganu people, with everything from thatched floor mats, baskets to traditional thatch wall panels being made in this fashion.

The weather's been great this past few weeks thus we can see people flying kites by the beach.
