1933 Slaughterhouse / 原工部局宰牲場
It was finished in 1933 and designed by British architect Balfours, as the “largest slaughterhouse in Far East” (with the capacity of 1000 cattles, 1500 sheeps, 300 calves and 300 pigs, able to kill 300 cattles, 500 sheeps, 100 calves and 300 pigs per day). By electric shock, animals did not feel pain during the killing process.

The building with a high chimney was the supporting facility.
Top floor: chemical and autopsy lab.
Second floor: with mechanisms for disinfection, animal fat blood coagulation and so on.
First floor: storeroom, rooms with melting furnaces for sick and dedaly animals and other mechanisms to make soaps, fodders or fertilizers.
