Snowy Egret (Egretta thula"

Snowy Egret (Egretta thula"

It was great fun watching the Snowy Egrets go after the little fish. The seem to run across the surface before lunging forward to snag their catch.

Looks even better large on black.

Yellow-crowned Night Heron

Yellow-crowned Night Heron

We watched this Yellow-crowned Night Heron in the J.N. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge as he stood just off the road intent on his next meal. Suddenly he struck successfully, as you can see.

Flying High

Flying High

I caught this Royal Tern as he glided over the ocean and thought it looked like he was soaring high over the earth with city lights far below. In fact, I took it from the Naples Pier looking down as the terns were soaring and diving for fish.

Please view on black.

Royal Tern (Thalasseus maxima)

Royal Tern (Thalasseus maxima)

I caught this Royal Tern, one of many, as he took flight once again after plunging head first into the ocean in search of little fish. They have the ability to hover in air for some time, then dive straight down into the water. They grab the fish and immediately become airborne.

View on black, please.
