dusty birkenhead point

another photo taken from the Iron Cove Bridge during Sydney's dust storm last week. Normally, the view over the water looks toward Balmain and Chatswood, last Tuesday, visibilty was pretty low.

It's not normally something that happens in Sydney and it was... dirty. I had never seen a dust storm before and like many Sydneysiders, didn't have any protection from it so it caused me to cough, gave me sore eyes and tasted like dirt. Cleaning up wasn't too fun either, but there was a certain novelty to waking up to a world that was fanta orange.

sandiv999 - I think the last time it happened here was in the 1930's (thankfully). It happens in outback Australia much more often. The way I see it is that I've always wanted to see the Australian outback, and I haven't been able to yet, so it came to visit me instead ;)
