Iron Man Sketch

Iron Man Sketch by -dOn-.
Done entirely on my iPhone with my finger and a Pogo stylus in the amazing new Sketchbook Mobile app from Autodesk. Post-processing (color tweaks etc) done in the Best Camera app.

Min - hehe thanks! Glad you like it. :)

suzi54241 - this is very high praise indeed! I've been admiring your fantastic portraits and you're truly an inspiration, as in your work desperately makes me want to improve mine (thanks for that new tutorial BTW). I'm glad you liked this sketch! :)

Clancycoop - thank you very much! I *LOVE* your photos!

suzi54241 - thanks again! :)

gdurrett & Puufer - thanks! Glad you liked it.:) Yeah, only Sketchbook for the drawing and painting. Kicked the color intensity up a notch or two using the Best Camera iPhone app from Chase Jarvis. No reason post-processing should only be used for photos eh? :)

Muid - not that big. I can't remember specific dimensions but I think it's mentioned on the product page in the App Store. It's bigger for the 3GS (and I assume the newest model iPod Touch).

That is fantastic! I like how you punched-up the levels with Best Camera (I like the new Photoshop app, myself). Also, what elements of the drawing were done with the Pogo? I'm interested in getting one.

hey b-minus, thanks! I did a super sketchy layout drawing in light gray with the Pogo. Then I started a new layer on top of it and did the final drawing with my finger.

I find that for the initial sketch, I need to get the positioning and scale right and the Pogo lets me be a bit more precise about placing things in a rough layout. My (fat) finger tends to obscure what I'm drawing as the pen point on the canvas is right under your fingertip.

Once I have the rough guide layout done with the Pogo however, using the finger for the final drawing lets me be a bit more expressive as Sketchbook Mobile's simulated pressure sensitivity works a lot better with fingertip sketching than it does with the Pogo.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks, -dOn-! Very interesting and informative. I really like the idea of using the stylist for the block-in. Great suggestion.
