This Memorial is located in a large park with a number of playgrounds and fields used for various sports. I imagine the park is usually busy, but on the late afternoon that we were there very few people were there. Earlier that day we were in Cooper River Park – a very busy park where a number of events were taking place. In contrast Chestnut Branch Park was empty - perhaps because it had turned colder and it was overcast.

Not being familiar with Chestnut Branch Park (or the area in general) we had problems locating this Memorial despite the fact that (thanks to Morton Fox) we had seen photographs it. There were no signs in the parts of the park that we had walked through. Eventually we did ask and were directed to a wooded area of the park that was several hundred yards away from the main entrance. A long, narrow and winding path led to this clearing.

The “Place of Reflection”, being a distance away from the developed areas of Chestnut Branch Park is fairly secluded.
