Upper Yosemite Falls

Upper Yosemite Falls

It's an unusually warm January day at Yosemite and the water is flowing a little heavier than normal for this time of year. A build up of ice and snow has accumulated at the base of the falls during the colder weather. Photographed January 19, 2009.

Nikon D300, f/16, 1/30, ISO 200, Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 @ 31mm, tripod, mirror lockup, cable release, raw, processing and conversion with Capture NX2, frame created with Photoshop CS2

Artillery In The Night

Artillery In The Night

This was a night time artillery demonstration conducted by a Civil War reenactment group at Fresno, California. A total of 12 cannon's fired one after another and I used a long exposure to capture the blast of each. It was a spectacular demonstration of firepower and the sound was unbelievable!

D300, f/16, 18 seconds, ISO 100, Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8 @ 26mm, tripod, cable release (bulb), raw, conversion in capture NX2; Photomatix (created 3 tiff's at -2ev, 0ev, +2ev; tone compressor)
