"Stone bag" for inner-city usesimple DIY solutions : - String to carry it over the shoulder - rubber stretch cords instead of a stone bag
![]() In preparation for 4th of July fireworks and the custy winds, I was looking for a way to improve my tripod. The heavier the better -- but when you carry it, it should be as light as possible. So I had this idea :

The assumption was that a photographer who is carrying a tripod will also be carrying a lot more stuff preferably in some kind of bag. With the help of 1 or more strong "stretch cords" it is easy to hook any bag up to a tripod. Just select the length & strength based on your bag and its weight. You would want to avoid the bag swaying in the wind, while getting as much tension on the stretch cords. And the good news is you won't notice the extra weight of these cords. My old solution looked like this but was not so useful when you're in urban & city landscape or on the beach. I rarely had a big & heavy boulder available to add considerable weight.
