vertigo

vertigo by Venerable Kalense.
This immense monument in the centre of Berlin is dedicated to the Jewish victims of the Nazis. Nearly 3000 monoliths lie in rows across an undulating field of small concrete paving stones. None of the monoliths are quite upright, but the lanes they form cross at right angles.

Enter the maze and within seconds you lose sight of your friends. People slide into view and equally abruptly vanish. Once lost from sight, you can never be sure that you will see them again.

In the centre of the labyrinth the monoliths tower above you, closing the perspective of the outside world to a narrow vision of the sky, inaccessible, providing no sense of orientation.

The words you choose to accompany your images always add so much, the second paragraph in particular
