    What's this photo about?

A title and description can provide essential detail about this photo.

    Big, Fat and Green

I touched it with the tip of a pen to shoo away an insect that was sucking on its juices and it was FIRM! Sadly, the next morning, it was gone - nothing but a green stain on the cement pathway to mark its brief existence. RIP caterpillar!

=) It almost looks like it dozed off, don't you think?

I can hardly find caterpillars in my neighborhood these days. The pest controllers are making them extinct. Great catch and they are actually harmless. Thanks for your fave recently. Best wishes

Thank you, William. Let me just leave a comment on your amazing jumping spider pic. I meant to earlier, but it was time for dinner. XD

Indeed, Fleur-Ange! Chubby everything, Perhaps he was trying to look like part of the plant.

Do you know what kind of caterpillar this is? I have a similar one, a huge one, living in my flowers. It only comes out at night.

    9. Sharlini (25 months ago)

Hi edenirene, I think the caterpillar that I shot here is the Oleander Hawk Moth. The ones in the garden eat constantly and you can see them happily munching away in the daytime too.

Interesting! Thanks for the info! I live in Hawaii and they are always telling us to be on the look out for invasive species. I think this one is ok!

    11. Sharlini (25 months ago)

That's good to hear, edenirene. Are you supposed to kill the invasive species? They are very beautiful moths, as you can see in the previous shot in the photostream.

    12. edenirene [deleted] (24 months ago)

Sharlini, I believe that Hawaii wants us to report the invasive species, but I am not sure if we are supposed to kill them. Anyhow, I did see the moth about a week later (same type of moth in your photostream) and accidentally sprayed it while watering my plants. It flew onto another plant and hasn't moved all day long. Thank you for the pictures and clarifying everything!!

    13. Sharlini (24 months ago)

Has it moved by now, edenirene? Maybe it was just drying itself out. I can't imagine killing a caterpillar on purpose. I mean, what's the most humane way of killing it? Squishing it? That's just so gross! I suppose it's best to just report them and hope they collect them and dispose of some place else.

Don't mention it, I'm always happy to help when I can.
