This mysterious home is located on Chandler street on the west side of Romeo Middle School. This house has been an object of obsession the whole time I lived in Romeo. No one knows who lives here. But there is proof of life on this property.
There are at least 20 cars that lie broken and abandoned ranging from 1940's Oldsmobile coupes, to a 1990's Chevy Beretta. The weirdest vehicle is a double decker bus. At night, a garage attached to the house has 2 of 4 lights on. There is a barn out back that whose windows are sealed out from the inside with black cinder block. The barn's doors are boarded up. Someone doesn't want ANYBODY in there!
From the street only one light is lit. It looks like if you were to enter through the front door, you would notice a high ceiling foyer and this looks like it's the light fixture.
There is definitely someone or something that lives here because I observed fresh tire tracks in the snow. I have to admit it. Sneaking up the front walkway with my camera gear was intimidating.
If you live in Romeo and know who lives here... please fill us in!
UPDATE 3-15-2008: Found information on the house...
The Hugh C. Gray House was built circa 1872 and remodeled in 1886, is
an example of Second Empire - Queen Anne style.

I know who owns this house. Boy, oh boy...what a guy. Greedy and backhanded. He collects all those cars and an insane amount of antiques because he just wants to have it all. Very odd fellow. As for the condition of his home, I don't think he really cares. Very creepy house.

Have loved this house since I was a little girl! Even as run down as it is now, I still love it. From what I understand from one of the members of historical romeo, this house has been through a number of fires. It does have alot of structral damage to it which sucks because the house was beautiful and as you see now is very much neglected! The guy that lives there now had a yard sale about a year or maybe 2 years ago, He was selling the origional light fixtures, sinks and so much stuff out of that house dirt cheap, doesn't seem he has really replaced much but he was selling HUGE crystal Chandeliers that were very dated for $60. bucks. I didn't buy anything, I just want the house!!!!!

I have a little story about this house. I had noticed the cars on the side of the house and when my sister and her girlfriend came for a visit from NYC, I was mentioning it to them. My sisters’ girlfriend is freaky about old cars and wanted to stop and see them; take a few pics, whatever. When we arrived at the house, the owner was on the scaffolding doing some “work” to the front. We approached and asked if we could just take a few pictures. His answer was a resounding “NO!...if I let you, then I’ll have to allow everyone to take pictures.” We walked away dejected…
Anyway, I’ve seen him there on several occasions working on some of those cars – only the one time working on the house.
There is a fenced sidewalk along the right side of the property that is owned by the Romeo Schools; it leads to the track – you can probably sneak and get a good shot of the cars in the side yard.

Please find more information on this. Well today me and my friends walked there, to explore, the boys we were with wanted to try and get inside, we walked in the backyard and they were trying to open some of those car doors, the doors were open and in one there was a bag in the back seat, but we didn't open it. We walked around by the side door and stepped up on the side porch, We heard old fashion music coming through the door, It was really scary, and We all felt like someone was watching us. After we got home we looked up research and found this. Please tell us more.! Btw this is not fake. 9-29-12

Someone does live there. I would fully support them pulling a gun on you since you trespassed, decided to rummage through their cars, and start exploring the house. I'm all for exploring abandoned places but not what you did.

Isn't this the old Haven Farm? I've been in it. I wonder if they ever got the smell out.
