Flygande Jakob

Flygande Jakob or "Flying Jacob" is a traditional swedish dish invented in the 1970's by Ove Jacobsson. He worked in the air freight industry, hence the "flying". Elin, our resident swedish chef, made it for us this weekend. The list of ingredients may seem a bit, um, unharmonious... (chicken, bacon, whipped cream, peanuts, bananas, ketchup, chili and curry) but all were in agreement that it was surprisingly delicious.

The combination of those ingredients just seem awful. But honestly ... it made me quite curious. I may have to look up the recipe.

This is indeed a delicious dish. I have cooked it several times for my English speaking friends, and they are always pleasantly surprised after the first frightened bite.
