Translated into English by Sir RIchard F. Burton
Pen & ink drawings by Michele Forgeois
Greenbrae, CA: Allen Press, 1980

Colophon: This book is one of an edition limited to one hundred forty copies. The typefaces are: for the text, Arrighi, a legible sixteenth-century Chancery cursive, set by Monotype, then re-set by hand; for this Colophon and Introduction, Romanee cursive set by hand. The all-rag paper was handmade and watermarked especially for The Allen Press at St. Cuthberts Mill in England, and printed damp on a Columbian handpress made in 1846. The green all-rap cover-paper is from the noted Montgolfier Canson Mill in France. The musical trumpet decoration from the Persian "Book of Kings," tenth century [on title page]. Arabic calligraphy, separating text page columns, is from the opening pages of the sacred Koran. Introduction by Francis Carmody, Ph.D. Hand-printed by Lewis and Dorothy Allen.
