Sloat Boulevard / CA Hwy 35 bike lanes

Sloat Boulevard / CA Hwy 35 bike lanes

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has implemented a pedestrian safety improvement project on Sloat Boulevard (CA Hwy 35) between Everglade Drive and 19th Avenue in San Francisco. This road diet reduced the number of travel lanes from 3 to 2, repaved and converted the rightmost lane to a 7-foor bike lane with a 4-foot painted buffer, installed crosswalks and signage, and lowered the speed limit from 40 to 35 MPH. The project came at the behest of Supervisor Carment Chu, who had asked Caltrans to make improvements to pedestrian safety along Sloat Blvd. (January 21, 2012)
