I'm On the Left, My Dad is on the right. I chose this very simple professional head shot because he used to work at a really fancy place but then his industry literally disappeared. Now he works for a lot less but is really happy to be working.

I like the results you got. Your photo seems much more diffused than Dad's. I like them both for different reasons. I'm wondering where the cool color cast is coming from in your Dad's photo. Did you gel that shot or was your WB set on auto?

Thanks. The strobes were set to similar power for both pictures but not the exact same. Also my skin is a lot less wrinkled so it looks that way but the diffusion was the same. The cool cast is from the WB, it wasn't on auto but i varied it just a little bit in post. This light set up was something new i tried based on some of David's 2 light series.

I like this one, looks edgy, probably would it be nice to reduce a little bit more the contrast between both lights, I like it very much though. Congrats

Very nice. Just a quick heads-up that this one made the finals stack in consideration for the best photo from the Boot Camp assignment.

Nice work!

I like this one a lot. it makes me think about how small details of the subject can dictate how to best set up a shot. for example, the scattered grey hairs and black tie on the subject on the right really make the simple background work, while the cleaner appearance of the subject on the left seems a little less interesting by comparisons. still, great job. really nice work.

Love the contrast (all of it). Particularly great shot of your dad! Love the way he pops (sorry - no pun intended) right out of the frame...

Wow. Thank you All so much. I really appreciate the Comments. Winning now would be a Bonus. I Agree, my dad really does look better with this lighting set up than I do. I always had it in my head that HARD light was bad for wrinkled skin. I Really appreciate that David takes so much time encourage us to go out there and try new things. Then he gives us stuff!!! What a great guy. Thank You.

Wow... the contrast looks almost like HDR! Amazing how you can duplicate that look without the processing!

Very nice shots! :)

I tried to get the same effect, but it's not quite right. Can you tell me what's missing?
