I spent a beautiful evening with Darko, his family, and later on with Jesús and Peio. Qué tarde más bonita, eh Jesús?

Reminiscing
DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Brooklyn Overpass), New York.
July 3, 1999. I was 15 years old at the time. And after convincing my parents, I finally got to cross the pond and visit the United States. I had been dreaming of that moment for years. I don't really know why, but it had always been a childhood dream of mine to go to the USA and spend some time here.
The summer of 1999 was one of the best I've ever lived so far.
I've been going back ever since that summer. Back to Hampton, in Virginia and to other places I've been able to visit over the years.
I've spent the happiest times of my life there. I've spent the saddest moments of my life there. I've done so many things in the United States, I've lived so much there... that I really believe it has shaped me as a person, as a woman. I am what I am and I am who I am because I became a woman there.
I've met wonderful people while visiting the States. People that have left a permanent print in my heart. I call those people friends. And I know we will remain friends forever.
I've fallen in love there and I have felt loved there. I've had a crush or two. I've gone on dates with guys in the USA. I've spent the most romantic, sexy, crazy, funny and unique moments there. I've fallen out of love there. I've cried there. Cried till my eyes were dry.
But mostly, I've just felt alive there. So alive and with so much energy... I cannot find the right words to explain how I feel whenever I go back there. It's the oxygen I need to feel alive.
It's been exactly ten years since I first visited the United States. I was back there in May. In New York City again, the city of my dreams. The city that I've come to love. And let me tell you, this is the type of love that lasts a lifetime. We're pretty serious :-P.
I feel homesick now... but I will be back soon. That I know for sure.

Larraitz
29.06.2008 Larraitz Odriozola. Cantinera de Behobia. Creo que de las fotos que le saqué, ésta es la que más le gustó. Guardo un bonito recuerdo de este día y de uno de los ensayos a los que asistí. Estaba realmente guapa.
