Happy Friday!

I originally took this in 2007 at the Keukenhof Tulip Garden in Lisse, Holland. The place is beautiful, and very worth visiting. I believe April is typically the best month to visit, but there were plenty of tulips in full bloom even in early May.

An HDR panorama (I'm guessing about 150º view) made from 27 source images: 9 vertical "slices" each made from 3 tonemapped images. The source images were shot with a Nikon D300 and the Nikon 14--24mm f/2.8 lens, which I just returned to the lens rental place today.

All my HDR photos (including some early "bad HDR") can be found here.

Last week I rented a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens from Borrowlenses.com. This lens is truly a thing of beauty and awesomeness.

Funny story, actually. So, I rented the lens last week and headed to this very same spot to take some wideangle sunset shots. I spent a good hour on that windy ridge snapping away as my fingers got more and more numb. Anyway, I got some great shots that evening. Well, I thought I had gotten some great shots, but when I processed them they were covered in dust. Every single one. And I have no idea how all that dust got on my sensor. Anyway, yesterday I ran into Borrowlenses.com's San Carlos, CA location and had my sensor cleaned while I waited. Tonight I took the rented lens out for the last time (it goes back tomorrow) and took the shots I had wanted to take last week. And guess what? Tonight's sunset was ten times better than last week's...and dust-free to boot! How's that for luck? This lens is going on my wish list. It really is an amazing, amazing lens.

This is Abby's preferred sleeping position. I'm not sure whether it's because she has bad hips or because she needs to cool her belly. Either way, it's pretty amusing. On the flip side, she can go from this position to upright and barking (at something only she can hear/see) within a few seconds. That too is amusing, but much less relaxing.

I took this almost four years ago while hiking the Skyline Open Space Preserve in Saratoge, California. This was right after a quick rainstorm blew through; ten minutes later it was sunny again. In case you're not familiar with Canon's G Series point-and-shoot cameras, this is an example of the kind of image these amazing little cameras can produce. This was taken with a G9.
