this old lady..

this old lady..

a film teacher would have a lot to say about this image, they'd ramble on about the composition, how the main subject is so animate in opposition to the structural elements, present, how the murals impose a sense of time to the photograph paralleling the age of the main subject when she was born, and how the road, sort of speaks itself, relaying another element of time and how the cracks in the road reflecting the direction of the once strong river of ashphalt are now more like a river bed drying up, perhaps like the life tof the old woman....

this old lady... did not see Ken

this old lady... did not see Ken

I mention Ken as I was in Oshawa looking for him, putting up posters, here and there, my gas paid for by a caring member of an agency, no one had seen Ken at any of my stops, not the police, not the mens mission, nor the drop in centre, or by the Hortons he used to frequent, or by the bandshell, none of the 'street people' I encountered had seen Ken, he was not down by the Midtown Mall either...has anyone seen Ken?....like a photographic vulture I spotted this kind soul and helped her across the street, boldly holding my arms up to the oncoming traffic, she was fairly fleet of foot, and by her ways I could see the route she took was familiar to her, she was out on her daily tour of the downtown shops, picking up supplies like fresh baked bread, cheeses and kielbossa sausage, when I asked if I could take a picture, she said, in a lovely European accent, "Peecture, why you want to take peecture"

arty window

arty window

in an alley way, behind some shops amid pails of garbage and greasetraps, there was a container full of old motor oil, just sitting there waiting to get knocked over.

my friends mother, almost 94, in a quarantied room, she was child like, so peaceful as she slept..i did not wake her, to say hello, if I say prayers I suppose that is what I did, is that a prayer when you think highly of someone, is that a prayer.

A Sacred Tree

A Sacred Tree

Serpent Mounds, overlooking Rice Lake, near Keene, Ontario...this is the burial place of native people, at this tree, we would gather from time to time and honour the lives of some folk who passed to soon from our lives.
