How Much Stuff... by Seb Payne

How Much Stuff...

After our gig at Hild Bede Day (college in the background), we requested the help of our good friend Graham (pictured right) to help us shift the stuff back to Van Mildert. We managed to get everything into his small Toyota Starlight - including bass cab, guitar amp, keyboard amp, drum breakables, music stands and keyboards themselves.

Much thanks Graham!

The Gatefold, in a lift by Seb Payne

The Gatefold, in a lift

What it says on the tin, while moving all our equipment back to my room last year. It was our aim to recreate the photo with all our equipment in the lift, but we ran out of time. Maybe next year...

Jane Arrives by Seb Payne

Jane Arrives

Not very sure why I'm uploading this one but it marks an important part of my life, the day the Rickenbacker arrived. Anyone who knows things about guitars will know how a.) expensive b.) hard to get and c.) beautiful these guitars are. This was purchased second hand from eBay (albeit in very good condition) and arrived after much delay, due to the large amount of funds being pushed about.

Since received and growing a custom to it, I've played Jane at every gig my band have done and it will certainly feature on some, if not all, of the recordings we did at the end of term.

You have to give your guitar lady names (unless you are inclined another way of course) so Jane is appropriate, mainly for sentimental reasons.

Easter Pavlova by Seb Payne

Easter Pavlova

From Easter Sunday, we had a fantastic pavlova - a speciality of my family. It tasted fantastic with plenty of texture and lots of fruit - lots and lots of raspberries, even in April.

David Byrne by Seb Payne

David Byrne

Back in April, I saw David Byrne at The Sage Gateshead, on his 'Songs of David Byrne & Brain Eno' tour. It rates very highly on my list of gigs - the modern dancers that flank the man here were just part of a troupe that really brought the show alive.

The co-ordination in dress sense was Kraftwerkian - everyone wearing pure white and even white guitar straps. For the encore of 'Burning Down The House', the party donned tutus. How fantastic!

If you get the chance to see this man live, do. He's such a showman, albeit a nervous edgy one.
