The iPhone is elegant...

But text in the web browser app is unreadable, it's so small. Now it could be that there's a way to change the text size, but if there is, it's hard to find. And the out-of-box setting for font size makes all the websites I've tried, even those that don't specify a font or size, unreadable. Did they even try reading any sites with the browser? Hard to imagine they did.

I'm guessing they expect you to do that two-finger flick thing to zoom into the picture.

Turn it 90 degrees (no matter which direction) -- tap it!
      Aaaaah!

Really dont get your point: isnt it a good thing to get the 'big picture' of a site first, even if the text isnt very big, initially; and then zoom in??!
Most people really do know the general structure of a website, so it shouldn't be a problem to find your way.

      After all, that's a _phone's _ screen.

But really, show us your site on the landscape-rotated iPhone: I would be surprised if it wont be easily readable.

I tried iPhone on my own web sites and I found myself simply holding it close to my face. I'm both very nearsighted and somewhat farsighted (needing bifocals). I take off my glasses and hold it maybe a foot or so from my face and everything's gorgeously readable.

I will be buying mine shortly but in an hour of playing with it in the store, I had zero trouble with legibility.

As others have said, turning it 90 degrees will also help by giving you a significantly bigger font and even crisper text. I found zoomed-in view significantly less usable because you missed too much of the context of the page.

I had no particular desire to turn it except for using the onscreen keyboard, which has bigger keys and is thus much easier to type on.

      Hope that helps.
