Tiny Sprint phone

Tiny Sprint phone by scriptingnews.
Sprint keeps sending me new phones, which is a great idea. This one is tiny! It's smaller than a pen.

Ok, it really is small, but who would want it? I mean, look at the display! And the risk of it accidentally ending up in your washing machine is just much too high.

Turn it around for the other display, and you'll see why people want it. My boyfriend just got this phone last Thursday. It freaking rules.

The Samsung Upstage combines two devices (a music player and a phone) into one iPod nano sized package. But unfortunately both sides are poorly done. In this case 1 + 1 doesn't equal 2. It's poor usability to have to keep switching sides (and hitting a flip key!). If you're browsing and need to type something in for example, there are no keys on the media side of the phone to let you do this.

Be careful. ... Check your account. ... They sent me a free phone, after I turned it down several times. .... Finally I gave in, and said, "Allright, send me the free phone, IF there will be zero extra money charged ton my sprint bill."

So they sent me the phone and added a new telephone number account. And, started charging me for the new phone number. ... Free phone plus new phone account was not free.

There's a podcast catcher on the phone - "Menu" - "Tools" - "Mobile Podcasts". It's from Voice Indigo, www.voiceindigo.com . Haven't figured out how to make it work with customize channels yet.

In general the phone's UI is a mess. The little scroll box on the big screen side is very twitchy, and it always seems to want to go back to the music store. Tons of stuff in there to do (music! movies! games! a back scratcher! a pencil sharpener!) but very awkward to impossible to make it work.

Check out the music store too - there's a Kids section, and if you look at the artist Gemini you'll find tracks that have explicit lyrics. Someone's QA is not 100%.

(Disclaimer: like Dave, I didn't pay for the phone or the phone service.)

How about a photo of the 'better' side - with the larger screen? ;)

It looks like a useful EVDO modem, but not too 'smart' a phone.

No replaceable battery? ekk!

The acid test for a mobile browser these days (imho) is : does it support the input type=file form tag for mobile web-based file uploads?

If you want to test that, let me know and I'll set up a test form.

I went the other direction and got a big fat brick of a phone... well, not bad, but compared to this, I miss the room in my pocket. BUT... can it do email :}
