The Net Audio function is pretty amazing and
complicated, I'm starting to check it out
now.
Basically, it can connect to an Internet
radio station, or a Windows PC running
special software (Microsoft protocols) or a
USB drive that plugs into the front panel.
I'm using the last option, although I have an
old Windows laptop that I plan to try out
with this. Eventually I'm going to merge this
system with my TV system, and it'll have a
Mac mini. Not sure exactly how I'm going to
get music off its hard disk to show up here,
but maybe I don't have to. Synching up the
hard disk on the receiver with other disks on
my LAN is going to be a challenge. And now of
course I'm wondering how the software on the
receiver is going to get upgraded, the
dilemma Scoble likes to point out. With the
Ethernet cable and a USB port it seems kind
of dumb if there's no good way to update the
software on this puppy, but I have a feeling
they don't have a way to do it. There's no
mention of it in the docs.
Sweet. But I'll warn you again. If you crank
up those speakers too loud, you may start
tremor activity on the Hayward Fault. ; )
Rock on.

Dave,
Why try to pump the Mini through their
weird ethernet interface? I just have my mini
going into my AV receiver as another
component, and then I can either drive things
through iTunes, Front Row, QT Player, VLC, or
anything else you can run on the Mac.
Just wondering?

BTW, here's a PDF of the manual, if anyone is interested.
