The river is the North Fork of the South
Platte, if I recall correctly. The road that
follows the river is Santa Fe. The straight
road the nearly parallels Santa Fe and ends
in the lower-left corner of the frame is
Broadway. The curvilinear freeway, running
from the top of the photo, to the right is
Interstate 25. The freeway looks bright,
because it's all new concrete. The project to
improve this stretch of I-25 was called T-Rex
(for TRansportation EXpansion project ...and
also because it tore-up the city and ripped
the budget to shreds). In the lower right
corner, somewhere, is the house of former
Denver Bronco's quarterback John Elway. You
did catch a slice of downtown. Start at the
top of the frame, dead-center. That's the
intersection of Sixth Avenue and Speer. To
the right of that is the state Capitol,
crowded by skyscrapers. There's also a large
swatch of Nineteenth Century mansions, south
and east (below and to the right) of
downtown. Nice catch.
