I haven't seen a review on TechCrunch. I
bought this based on reviews on Amazon and
elsewhere. I have another Canon which is
larger. It takes great pics, but I wanted a
very small camera that would take better
pictures than my iPhone. I think this may be
it. It was worth a try. I agree that Canon
has the market, I wouldn't buy any other
brand. I didn't always know that, I've bought
Nikon and Sony cameras, but the Canons take
the best pics and are easier to use.
no matter how good the lighting and how
steady the camera, most of the pics come out
grainy -- notably lower-res than pics taken
with my previous camera, a Pentax that was
only 8mp (or even the one before that, a 6mp
Nikon). have tried all sorts of settings
including auto. i really want to like this
camera but am about to give up on it. I do
like the very fast shutter response, though.

I thought you would prefer the Flip Ultra over this. Seems Arrington's post on the comparison worked for you.

Let me get this straight:
to take this picture you used a camera to take a picture of a camera in a box?
That's awesome.

I have it and I love it! You have to check out chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK though. Some really cool extra features and no risk.

Canon has the digital camera market locked up. Digital Elphs for the pocket, G Series for semipro, and S Series for superzoom.

The SD750 is a great little camera, so I assume the 1000 is 250 units more awesome. Takes decent video, too.

I'm currently looking at the SD1100IS (which, AFAIK, is supposed to replace this model)... what made you choose this one instead?

Queco, cause I didn't know about the 1100IS.
Oy -- this has been such an awkward exploration.
I'm going to give this camera to a friend and buy the SD1100.
Luckily they cost about 1/2 the price of a night in a NY hotel, so I can afford to experiment. :-)
