A geek's birthday!

A geek's birthday! by scriptingnews.
You know they talk about a dog's breakfast well this is a geek's birthday. A dual-WAN router and an Eye-Fi card from my parents and Nicco and Morra, respectively. Both arrived from UPS earlier today. Looking forward to geeking out with both! :-)

Narrative of my attempt to get the Eye-Fi card to work.

I think you have to take low-rez pics with the eye-fi, I'm taking high-rez pics, and it's slooooooooooow, using up tons of batteries and then the camera automatically shuts down. All just to upload one of ten pics I took of myself sticking my tongue out. (Most of them suck and I don't want to keep them.)

Never mind that with the default settings it was going to upload them to Flickr, automatically. I think I'm only going to use this in my old Nikon which is good for taking low-rez pics.

I shoot "high-rez" with a Canon EOS Rebel XSi all the time and use the Eye-Fi Card without issue. Typically a (4272 x 2848) jpeg file takes between 10-12 seconds to upload to my computer on my home network. That may be slow to some, I know, but this has not been a problem for me.

As for the camera shutting off make sure to max out the power settings so it is on long enough.
