I've never turned on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray at
Netflix, but maybe you did once? If you go
click on Your Account (upper right corner),
then look in the lower left, my prefs say
"Format Preferences - Set up your
account for High Definition DVDs" (and
now, of course, I'm afraid to click it... but
I'm guessing you have some way to turn this
off...?)
