The sensor bar seems to be okay

The sensor bar seems to be okay by scriptingnews.
They asked me to look through the view-finder on my digital camera, to see if the sensor bar was working correctly. I didn't know you could do that. What they're looking for is five red lights on either side, my eyesight isn't good enough to make them out, so I took a picture, and sho' nuf, there they are!

I love technology, even (sometimes) when things aren't working correctly.

I bet my unit is okay, I just must be pressing the wrong buttons.

Did you try to point your remote to the Confirm button? Or maybe try a hard reset. Sorry, my Wii worked from second one and I am having a lot of fun with Rockstar Tabletennis at this moment. (taking a break inbetween two sets now :) )

Yes, I tried pointing it everywhere, and reset a few times. Kind of at a loss for what to try next.

Is the first blue light on the remote solid, not blinking? If it isn't you may need to use the red pairing button (under one the front panel where the card slots are).

I had a couple moments of confusion initially before figuring out that the remote's had to be paired. There is a red button on the wii (little drawer that flips down) and the battery compartment of the remote - just in case you haven't done this yet!

purpanther, yes -- i've resynched.

I tried standing on a chair, moved 10 feet back, 15 feet, even 20 feet. Moved the receiver to the bottom of the screen. No cursor shows up. Rebooted a dozen times, resynched three or four. Something is screwy here, but I'm no closer to knowing what it is. :-(

It didn't look like from your video that there was a "hand" which should act as your pointer on the screen.

"If you are able to scroll with the "+" and "-" buttons, but the cursor is not appearing, then there is likely a problem with the Sensor Bar. Please click here for additional Sensor Bar information."

The + and - buttons don't work either.

Someone suggested the batteries might be bad.

Haven't checked that yet.

I will. :-)

Changing the batteries didn't make a difference.

Maybe it's your Wiimote. A friend of mine had a similar situation where his cursor stopped appearing after his Wiimote died but it was an old remote. Hope you figure it out, the Wii is great!

Is there lots of fluorescent light in the room and/or high reflections? That screwed me up...

I know this is a stretch - do you happen to have a lot of bluetooth devices around that could possible be causing wireless interference? Other sources of rf interference are cordless phones, microwave ovens, and wireless access points.

Although, I have a LOT of wireless at home and this doesn't affect the wii remote.
