The Mets's mascot isn't an animal or a human being, it's a baseball, with human characteristics. It's the way cool was defined in the 1960s. Everything about the Mets was cool forty years ago. Let's hope it will always be so, but the fact that they're demolishing Shea Stadium must be considered a sign of impending doom.
