Times Square by night

My impressions from Times Square are always a bit hazy, like that intersection of streets somehow exists distinctly from the surrounding city, and yet it is impossible to define with absolute limits.

Recess in the Lower East Side

Walking through the Lower East Side, I came across a schoolyard where children were playing at recess, contained in a concrete court behind metal bars.

This is nothing like my childhood memories of recess, but putting aside the visual, the sounds of children playing is almost universal.
