Twilight Ukelele

My son's life-long best friend, who happens to play the ukelele, was entertaining us while we waited for the fireworks to start. I saw that beautiful soft sunset glow acting as a rim-light and grabbed several near-silhouette images. This was my favorite.

Earring Vendor

July 4th at the Marietta Square includes lots of arts and crafts vendor tents. I loved the colors on this rack of hand-made ear rings, just wish the left side background hadn't been blown out. Considered cropping it, but couldn't decide.

ND Grad Comparison

Two quick images shot from my front porch to compare the effects of the Cokin ND Grad filter. Obviously neither of these are "good" shots, I just grabbed these on full automatic mode to show how much more light and color are captured in the foreground with the filter in place.

If I was working toward "keeper" landscape images I'd be shooting with manual control and fine-tuning the results a lot further. My first several shots today were enough to tell me that this filter may be useful, but it's definitely no "silver bullet."

Cokin G2 A121 ND Grad filter

Here's the latest Fill The Bag gear item, a Cokin G2 A121 ND Grad (neutral density graduated filter). I can tell already it's gonna take some practice to make good use of this in the field.

Found this in a bargain bin at the front of my local Wolf Camera. There was quite a variety of filters in that bin, be sure to have a look (if there's a Wolf/Ritz near you that's still open).
