JMT 2007 - Day 05 |
Distance: 11.9 miles
Elevation gain: 9600′- 11056′ - 9680′
Day 5 started with a hard 2.9 miles to
and over Donahue Pass, the first 11,000+
ft. pass of the trip. We started bright
and early and made good time, and
enjoyed breakfast at the pass before
heading down the other side.
After the pass we dropped down over
1,000 feet before arriving at Island
Pass. From there, we descended to the
very scenic 1,000 Island Lake, a large
lake with many islands in its waters. On
the south end of the lake is the
impressive Mt. Banner.
After resting at 1,000 Island Lake, we
continued on to Garnet Lake, where we
set up camp for the night.
