Video: Explanation of matte painting's use in film

Part of our tour of Lucasfilms, Industrial Light and Magic's headquarters in San Francisco. On many of the walls there are matte paintings (this one was from the movie "Dreams" that make up the background in films. This saves movie makers tons of time in going on scene to make a set, or film in real life (saves money). Now? This is all done in computer graphics.
