Reykjavík Burning - The Fleece Revolution |
Between 20 January 2009 and 26 January
2009, thousands of Icelanders turned out
to protest the government's mishandling
of the economic crisis and refusal to
accept responsibility. Protesters
wanted new elections and the government
to step down. On 22 January 2009
elections were set for May 2009. On 26
January 2009 the coalition government of
the conservative Independance Party
(Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn) and the
centre-left Social Democratic Alliance
(Samfylkingin) collapsed. Most of these
photographs can be found in my previous
sets, but I've now had the chance to
color correct them and crop them to my
preferences.
