Bintang: No, it doesn't. Each product is "fetched from the shelf by a robot which delivers the product to the output delivery door", says Zoom Systems.

Every airport needs one. Perhaps they should start putting them in schools, too.

So you buy an iPod. Don't you still have to get music onto it somehow?

So what happens if the iPod doesn't fall properly? Candy vending machines have a bad reputation of eating your money. I hope they at least fixed that problem with these.

Not to mention that iPods don't typically come with a full charge out of the box.

rootlinux: they run windows embeded, so im sure there's an exploit somewhere....

$250 is kinda more than a 65 cent soda though.. im not sure they would just say "o, it happens"

Maybe like with candy machines, if you shake the machine, an extra IPod will fall and you'll get 2 for the price of one.

maybe these are battery-powered ipods?
Posted 56 months ago. ( permalink )

view profile

Emptythought says:

all ipods are battery powered.. or did you mean disposeable/replaceable batteries...

because they only make ipods with built-in non user replaceable batteries now, and as far as i know thats how it always has been

nuttree: if i see one of this, im gonna try that for sure

Humm

A vending machine for a $100-$200 product does not sound appropiate, but it is definately a good option if you forgot to buy a present and all shops are closed because you are taking a night flight...

I wouldn't put $250 in an unattended machine myself. Although, It would be cool if it had some sample tracks that people could play until they could fill it. Otherwise it's kinda useless except for us g33ks who are fully equipped.

Do you have to lay your towel over the drain, put the satchel by the output delivery door, put the mail on top of the satchel before you press the button?

(ok, that was a really vague joke that only a select few, if any, will get)

i doubt the point of this machine is to sell ipods. what a great marketing idea...which appears to be working!

BlueFace  Pro User  says:

you should look at this less like a vending machine, and more like a small shop. Apple have here a place where they make money in far less space than it would normally take, also they have no sales staff to pay!

On the point of it coming uncharged and with no songs, don't the ipods you buy in the high st. come the same way?

Good on apple! The less hassle i have over extended warranty's and "super cool" ipod accessories the better... ;-)

My wife and I vacationed in Europe in 1993 and we saw an automated, robotic convenience store. The items were behind glass and you put the money in and directed (I can't remember if it was like a claw machine or you punched in the number of what you wanted but it grabbed it for you and put it down a chute.) It was in Switzerland, I think.
So it was only a matter of time...

They had something about this on the Washington (DC) news a while back, and also had it on thier website. The iPods are $10 and up, they're the first ones made, Apple said to expect errors in them any day, cuz they're not the kind you would buy at a REAL store. like I said, they're de-fects, and the batteries are for the AA conveter Charger. I was actually expecting sscrash AT LEAST 2 kno bout this 1 but i guess not. well, still, the vending machine IS pretty tight n i thought id jus steer u guys in the right direction...

Yo, I took a $25 prepaid Visa Card. I " bought " out 18 ipods from the machine and now it cant be traced to me. unless you guys tell. hahahah I sold each ipod on ebay for $99 and made $1780.

lxmcpeters says:

stupid dumbasses,

just becasue its sold in the same machine does not mean it goes together

why is everybody thinking that the batteries are for the ipods. They are for handheld items that take batteries people in airports need batteries on the plane to operate other devices not the ipods so they sell them together. these machines also sell digital cameras and other things. Using your dumbass logic I am wondering why someone isnt asking how to hook up a camera to your ipod. just becasue its sold in the same machine does not mean it goes together

ipods here are not supposed to have songs on them dumbasses. These are brand new and brand new ipods dont have songs on them
you load them on latter according to your tastes and preferences in music
