Wes, at Lucques, with a Harold Lloyd Cocktail
![]() Make a Perfect Martini using Hendrick's Gin: 3 oz. gin, 1/4 oz. Noilly Prat dry vermouth, 1/4 ounce sweet vermouth (for an extra-special drink, use Carpano Punt E Mes or Antica Formula for the sweet vermouth; otherwise, good ol' Martini & Rossi will do just fine). Stir for no less than 30 seconds, garnish with cucumber slice. The aroma of the cucumber garnish complements the cucumber and rose petals that are among the botanicals used in making that wondrous gin, and the olfactory dimension adds a whole other layer of pleasure.
The drink is named for the silent movie star and former owner of the carriage house which now houses Lucques Restaurant in West Hollywood, and is one of their house specialty cocktails. It's exquisite. Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
