The election is in just over a month, and registration closes early - so take the 30 seconds to get registered. Now.

Even if you think you are already registered, if you are at all uncertain, you should re-register. If you have had a change of address, you should re-register. And if you did not get your primary ballot (Oregonians), or couldn't seem to vote in the primary, you should re-register.

It's not too late to request an absentee ballot. So if you are out of your home state, will miss the election, or would like to keep your registration in your homestate rather than your temporary home, you may still register absentee.

Viva la Vibs - double registering isn't an issue at all. If you're at all uncertain, just re-register. Registration forms request your last address of registration, which will help the state find your last registration so they can update your registration to your current address.

As if any vote we actually cast will be worth a flying fuck. Isn't is painfully obvious after the last election that our votes don't matter? Or we can track it eight years ago. Voting machines are owned by corporations that have their own agendas as to who needs to be our leader. Not to mention the fact that all the "change" people are clammering about will not come because neither candidate promises much change that will truly affect any of us.
Everyone is so caught up in this shit because we are sick of Bush and his lame-ass antics. But really...get a clue....

@gentledisaster is Lady Robin: Voting machines can be rigged, for sure. And we should continue voicing our displeasure at a system without accountability, and insist upon a method for manual recount and verification.

Still, you know what's even easier to not count than a ballot cast with an electronic voting machine? A ballot not cast at all. Throwing up your hands in disgust at the state of affairs is certainly one course of action, but I think that doesn't alleviate our duty to participate in our government. If anything, it should spur us to further action.
