Young Patas Monkey playing with bamboo

Young Patas Monkey playing with bamboo by Saveena (AKA LHDugger).
The patas monkey is from North Central Africa. They are the world's fastest terrestrial primates. A male patas monkey is capable of sustained running at about 35 miles per hour. In the wild, they spend more time on the ground than any other monkey.
Patas monkeys are reddish tan in color with very expressive, whiskered faces. They average around 18 pounds when full grown. Like all old world monkeys, they have well-developed hands with an opposable thumb.
The patas monkey is also known as dancing monkey, Hussar monkey, military monkey, red monkey and sergeant-major monkey.
