cherry blossom

The beginning of spring is always marked by cherry blossoms, so much so that the blooming is a famed event in East Asian countries (Sakura). Even in the national capital, a Cherry blossom festival is celeberated.

Of course not all cherries grow only in East Asia and DC. They grow everywhere else, flowering at different times. There are also different varieties growing at different places.

Here in California, right in my workplace, there are many cherry trees which blossomed quite recently. Though nowhere near the pure white of the Japanese Sakura, it still was a fantastic bloom. It made quite a difference during the beginning of the week to see the light rose-colored blossoms in the campus.
