Earth Hour at Sydney
On 31 March 2007, the City of Sydney Council, together with 3,000 businesses and 60,000 households, switched off as many lights and appliances as possible.
This picture montage shows how successful it was. The upper picture is from about 2 years ago, the one below is during Earth Hour.
I think many visitors that night were quite disappointed, as mass media wanted to make us believe that the city would simply disappear in the dark, and the stars would come out. Of course, nothing even close to that happened, but I think it was a good first event of its kind, with many to follow.
The cynics amongst you will be pleased to hear that on the following Monday, the skyline was back with its blazing lights ... learning-curve: very flat :-(
