In the earlier years of the internet when the bbc did a series on acorn computing there was this programming function which showed a globe in the window of a house... the next frame in the series zoomed into the globe and as in Google local on a part of devon still zooming in like in Google Earth till you reached this house with a globe in the window... sounds old-hat now.. but who knows!
