Martello Tower : Pevensey : EastbourneTower 64 that stands on The Crumbles between Eastbourne and Pevensey. Martello Towers are fortifications that were built by the British Army for coastal defence during the nineteenth century to protect the vulnerable coastlines of Sussex and Kent from the army of Napoleon Bonaparte.
