Somebody once asked C.H. Spurgeon whether he could defend the Bible. His reply, quite characteristic of Spurgeon, was, "Defend it! I would as soon defend a lion. Let it out; it can defend itself!"

My Papaw's old (old) bible...I found that little slip of paper in between the pages.

Amish Country

On our way back from Maine last summer,we stopped for a couple of nights in Holmes County,Ohio.
The Amish have always fascinated me with the way that they do things. It was like stepping back in time (or into a Beverly Lewis novel) going down some of those country roads...With women in white bonnets putting the wash out on lines,and the men with straw hats and plows working out in the fields.
