9/6/2008 Doctors from El Nadeem visit a village where farmers were evicted from their land last Tuesday.

Women were violently attacked by both the police and other farmers who stand to gain from the eviction.

Men from the village had either been arrested, or had fled.

Three women suffered broken bones caused by the beating.

Police use of violence against women during land disputes is not new. See: Sarando.

The women didn't want to be photographed. I could only photograph the extremely uncamera-shy, brilliant kids.
