The best thing about that porch was the tiny tray of milk bottles outside the kitchen door!

This was hands down the best gift I ever received. I don't look very excited in the picture, but I was speechless.

Wow. That is an amazing present.

It's interesting how every girl looked the same in 19-seventy-something. You look just like my sister did.

If you ever wanted to run away you could have LIVED INSIDE that house! It's giant!

Such a nice picture though. Aw, grandmas.

I would have died and/or killed for this dollhouse. I had a pretty nice sized one that my dad built (from a kit) that I got to custom paint and everything and I thought it was soooo cool.

Also, if you're a miniatures dork like me (see: mini milk bottles) you would die (much like me) at Hobby City where they have whole STORES of miniatures -- teeny money, teeny silverware, tiny brand-name merchandise, it's awesome.

There is a toy and miniature museum in Kansas City that has some hugely elaborate, exquisite doll houses. According to the docent, doll houses like these originated as teaching tools for the growing daughters in upper-crust households.

I always wanted to build a doll house like yours, but as my daughter is now 20 years old and in college, I don't have the same excuse to have a doll house around as I once did.
