Time Line

Time Line by Saomik.
I have looked at this sculpture a bazillion times since 1983, and I don't think I ever noticed before yesterday that the line between concrete and steel exactly matches the horizon, when viewed from the paved path by a person of 185 cm height. Coincidence? I hope not. The sculpture, by the way, is called "Time"

Wow, I'll have to check that out this week. I imagine a person of 180cm can achieve a similar effect.

I'm having fun with the optical illusion created by this - with a bit of mental effort, I can shift the steel constructs to the far shore or beyond, at which moment they become astonishingly large

I was able to achieve a similar result, had to kind of stand on the park bench though. It's still pretty amazing, almost creates a pseudo-mountainous skyline.

Neat find! Despite spending a bit of time photographing the time sculpture I've never noticed this before. I also like the playing around with the optical illusion - I'm definitely going to have to see this firsthand!

Ethereal, intriguing, amusing, and (optically) annoying all at the same time. An amazing combination. Put the title on it, and it is a lock for Over the Top. :>)

Great capture of a mesmerising art piece. I love how the horizon runs into it and it breaks off at the center. Evokes a feeling of discontinuity.

Super capture -- and why perspective is really one of the keys to great photography (and philosopy)

Wow!! I kept thinking it was a double-exposure sort of superimposed transparent image kind of thing... That is great!

It almost looks like the concrete is made of glass. Great capture.

I am 1.84 metres and the optical illusion works for me all way from England! This is a great capture. I expect the artist who made this installation would be please that others are 'getting it' even now.
